There may be times when we need to restart the MS SQL Server to maintain its performance and stability.

So restarting the SQL server at off hours or when the work load is less would be a beneficial task.

 

We can restart SQL server from 3 places

1. By Management Studio

       Open the Management Studio

       Connect to Server

       Right click on ServerName, click restart.

2.  SQL Server Configuration Manager

      Open the SQL Server Configuration Manager from All Programs

       Microsoft SQL Server

       Configuration Tools

       SQL Server Configuration Manager

       Right Click on SQL Server Instance name and restart.

3.  From Services

      Open Serivces.msc

      search SQL Server (MSSQLSERVER)

       restart the SQL server.
