OutLook file(.pst) location:

Outlook stores your email (and attachments), calendar and contacts together in one file that uses the extension "PST" or Personal Storage Table.

In windows XP:

drive:\Documents and Settings\<user>\Local Settings\Application Data\Microsoft\Outlook

In windows 7 or 8 or vista:

drive:\Users\username\AppData\Local\Microsoft\Outlook

If Outlook is open, you can open Windows Explorer to the pst location from the File, Data File Management menu. (File, Account settings, Data files tab in Outlook 2010 or 2013.) Select the PST and click Open folder.

To repair outlook pst files.

ScanPST is a free utility from Microsoft designed to repair corrupt or damaged Outlook PST files.

1. Copy the corrupt PST from the source and save locally to your machine.

2. Open ScanPST (typically located in one of the following folders)

  • C:\Program Files\Common Files\System\Mapi\1033\ (Outlook 2003)

  • C:\Program Files\Common Files\System\MSMAPI\1033 (Outlook 2003)

  • C:\Program Files\Microsoft Office\Office12 (Outlook 2007)

  • C:\Program Files\Microsoft Office\Office14 (Outlook 2010)

3.To run the Inbox Repair Tool, follow these steps:

  • Click Start, and then point to Find or to Search, depending upon your operating system.

  • In the Search for files or folders named box, type scanpst.exe

  • Double click the Scanpst.exe file to open the Inbox Repair Tool.

  • Type the path and the filename of the personal folders (.pst) file or click Browse to          locate the file by using the Windows file system.

  • Click Start. Run multiple times until error count is zero.

  • Copy the fixed PST back to source and append.
